Production Manager
CurrentOptimise efficiencies relating to all abalone primary production processes in order to ensure a consistent supply of fast growing and healthy abalone. This includes the management of the large staff contingent who performs the required husbandry functions.Key performance AreasProductivity management: Using agreed budgets and targets as a guideline, maintain and improve production processes on the production platforms of farm to optimise production output without compromising on abalone health.Stock management: Ensuring that the roughly 460t of abalone at Romansbaai are kept healthy and growing optimally. Achieving a highly efficient stock profile through the strategic selection of animal's for harvesting. Effective management of industry genetic selection programs whilst abalone are grown out in the platforms.Employee management: Take responsibility for the motivation and subsequent performance of all employees working on the ongrowing production platforms, split stations as well as in the Basket department.Planning: Identify production targets, develop short-term and long-term plans to achieve these targets, and monitor actual performance versus these plans.Financial management: Using agreed budget as a guideline, ensure that due diligence is applied to spending and that critical cost-benefit thinking is applied at all times. Information management: Ensure that accurate production data (and other relevant data) is generated and routinely analysed to determine production trends and increase understanding of stock performance trends.Basket management: Through the effective cleaning and repairs of old baskets, and the manufacturing of high quality new baskets, ensure that the production processes of splitting and grading are never interrupted.Continuous improvement: Actively pursue innovative ways to improve existing abalone farming husbandry practices, infrastructure and process management in order to ultimately boost profitability.
