My passion is to provide benefits, access to care, and unparalleled service to the unique, worldwide population I have the privilege to serve. With more than 100,000 people depending on the American Foreign Service Protective Association for their health, dental, life, disability, and critical illness insurance needs, I seize opportunities to innovate care and service. I draw inspiration and energy to meet AFSPA's mission from our members and the talented people alongside who I work alongside each day. As the leader of an association, I value the role we play in offering education to our members and the whole federal civilian workforce. Through the classes I teach at the Foreign Service Institute, I am able to provide a foundational understanding of federal health benefits for new Foreign Service personnel, and aid them in understanding their options with federal coverage and Medicare later in their careers. We provide regular information to our members in the form of our podcast AFSPA Talks, our monthly live Q&A AFSPA Live, and other webinars and in-person events. Through my leadership of the Senior Living Foundation (SLF) of the American Foreign Service, I carry out the promise of "taking care of our own." With annual grants totaling over $500,000, the Foundation provides direct and indirect aid retired Foreign Service personnel and their spouses, including surviving and divorced spouses, in the form of care management, support for home health care and assisted living fees, transportation to medical appointments, basic living expenses, and more. Our Parent Program offers guidance and support to the parents and parents-in-law of active Foreign Service personnel during times of emergency and transition.
