Most recently I've been working on generative AI in the legal space using Microsoft's Semantic Kernel and Kernel Memory. My current project involves using publicly available Form 5500 documents -- which detail employee benefit plans of companies -- from the SEC to analyze individual plans and compare traits between plans.Form 5500s have a mixture of pre-defined content (think W-2s) but there are also unique attachments to the Form which are uploaded per company per doc which vary wildly in format/content. In order to make this information understandable by the LLM, I set up a variety of pre-processing steps, most notably OCR'ing for scanned PDFs or structured content such as tables, before generating vector embeddings for the text.All of this work enables the LLM to meaningfully understand the content and enable users to ask detailed question against these documents. I've been working on this project solo so I'm responsible for all architectural decisions and developing a maintainable and scalable application. I've also worked on a couple other similar projects in the space but this is the one I'm most proud of currently. 🙂

During my time at Capgemini, I worked in a multi-team environment developing a DocuSign-esque platform with multi-user document signing, scanning, and storage. Supporting our team lead, I assisted in the architectural design and development of the application; we focused on a microservice-style architecture including services such as document smart-tagging using Azure's OCR + Text Analytics API and horizontally-scalable virus scanning using Azure Containers and ClamAV.My day-to-day responsibilities consisted of taking ownership of new feature developments on a C#/EF Core backend and contributing fixes & improvements to our React frontend. In addition, I volunteered to mentor + onboard two cohorts of new graduates covering the fundamentals of Azure, RESTful APIs, and EFCore, while helping them brush up on OOP practices and system design over two 2 week periods. This ended up being my favorite part of the job as not only did it serve to refresh my knowledge of these areas, it also helped build a lot of great relationships with incoming coworkers.
