As an award-winning Social Studies Teacher, I have made a real difference in helping my students to learn AP US Government, Senior Government, World History, and US History.In recognition for what I do in the classroom, The Henry Ford named me the 2019 TEACHER INNOVATOR GRAND PRIZE WINNER, the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution (Piety Hill Chapter) choose me as it's 2014 OUTSTANDING TEACHER of AMERICAN HISTORY recipient, and The National Endowment for the Humanities has nominated me 4 times as a NEH SUMMER SCHOLAR.As a classroom teacher, I design formative and summative assessments, communicated with parents, graded papers, managed a classroom, and incorporated items such as debates, film, discussions, current events, projects, and map work into a classroom that focuses on mastery of the subject matter for students with multiple learning styles.Worked on curriculum redevelopment groups for district on US History and World History and Senior Government. Successfully taught flipped, large-group, and team-taught classes. Sponsored charities and after school clubs, including a communications and leadership camp, Military History club, and Social Studies Olympiad. Picked by colleagues to teach classes to colleagues on how to use more data analysis in the classroom.
