I created an audiovisual piece to be projected during a student production of Sunday in the Park With George, a musical about the pointillist painter Seurat. Based on Seurat’s scientific approach to art, the visuals explore a host of ideas related to the science of color and light. I incorporated a variety of visual techniques, from video feedback in Max/MSP/Jitter to Processing sketches to Leap Motion control to Photoshop editing and After Effects animation. Harvestworks is a digital media art center that supports creative work with new and evolving technology. I collaborated with resident artist Matthew D. Gantt to extend his recent work in virtual reality. The goal was to develop C# scripts for Unity that allow Max patches to control 3D objects and spatial sounds in a VR scene.

Potomac Theater Project (PTP) is a unique program that combines Middlebury College students and Equity actors from New York into a single company. I designed animated visuals to be projected during The After Dinner Joke, a Caryl Churchill satire about charity. The 32 visual elements incorporate a variety of techniques, including image manipulation in Photoshop, VFX in After Effects, and character animation with Adobe Character Animator.

The Artist Union is a SoundCloud-based platform for network growth and music promotion. As one of its services, users can submit their songs to potentially be reposted on channels with over 3 million combined listeners. I listen to these submissions and decide which to promote, providing personal feedback to the artists. Additionally, I correspond with the international network of artists and collaborators over email and explore new avenues for growth. https://theartistunion.com/

The goal of this project, led by professor Daniel Scharstein, is to create datasets for evaluating 3D reconstruction on mobile devices. This technology promises wide-ranging applications, including e-commerce, social media, and virtual reality. When the datasets are completed in future summer research, they will become the next addition in the well known Middlebury Computer Vision Benchmark (http://vision.middlebury.edu/).My primary contribution to the project was a comprehensive camera calibration program written in C++. It performs both camera calibration and stereo calibration, which are essential steps in the 3D reconstruction pipeline. The program implements novel support for a 3D calibration rig with ArUco patterns (https://www.uco.es/investiga/grupos/ava/node/26). The Middlebury College library contains a technology helpdesk, where students and faculty can visit or call for technological assistance. I addressed a wide range of hardware and software issues over the phone and in person, cataloguing my efforts in a detailed ticket system. I learned to diffuse stress and effectively troubleshoot.
