As Co-founder and CPO at Algoma, Kyle leads the strategy, design, and development of Algoma’s digital automation platform and repeatable zero-carbon building product for CRE markets.

August Green is a human-centered design studio founded by Kyle MertensMeyer, grounded in research and reaching for innovative solutions to today's intractable issues. Kyle's practice reinforces a throughline of sustainability, strategic thinking, and human-centered experiences realized within physical and digital realms. Since founding his studio in 2016, Kyle has led an interdisciplinary team of designers and thinkers, working on projects ranging from research and ideation to design and implementation while collaborating across the temporal boundaries of the Middle East, Europe, East Asia, and the United States.We believe true sustainability is based on understanding the nature of the ephemeral and that every decision we make will impact lives today and beyond. "We must always ask, Why are we doing this, and who is it for?" As adaption and resilience become an important focus for the future of our cities, We pursue broad interdisciplinary interests to envision the future while staying relevant to the needs of the present. August Green utilizes design and research as a tool to improve the places we live, create beauty, and solve challenges across all scales. Kyle believes "we cannot talk about equity or justice in our work until we have engaged, experienced, and empathized with those we design for. The most significant challenges we face go beyond the act of design itself." We must become proactive solutions seekers.

Kaleidoskope is a widely published and award-winning virtual environments studio composed of multidisciplinary practitioners with expertise in VR/AR, Animation, Gamification, Visualization, Climate Analysis, and Building Information Modeling. Kaleidoscope has been internationally recognized and awarded by Architizer and the World Architecture Festival for visualization, animation, and climate analysis. Our team has developed a core foundational workflow that optimizes the management and collaboration between all trades. We dedicate our time and efforts to perfect the art of architectural design, climate analysis, and detailed modeling to push project development toward efficiency and accuracy. Trained as architects, we regard “design” as a core discipline that shapes our practice, including Autodesk Certified Professional and LEED Accredited Professional Certifications. Our knowledge and passion for craft enable us to collaborate with our clients to deliver integrated design processes from concept to construction across multiple scopes.

Working with 1st - 4th-year students at the School of Design & Innovation. Designed and led 2nd-year curriculum, 4th-year graduate thesis advisor.

Kyle was promoted to Associate and led at Gensler as a Regional Sustainable Leader and Senior Designer in Shanghai, China.

Senior Environmental Researcher for Outdoor and Indoor Air Quality design. Kyle led three years of Gensler-funded research focused on air pollution and its health impacts within the built environment. Kyle's research at Gensler changed preconceived ideas about indoor air quality. Today, his work is presented and used internationally as a basis for creating value and productivity in healthy workplace environments.

As a senior sustainable design leader, Kyle led Gensler teams in Shanghai and Los Angeles to win Fuson's Shanghai Link project for SMG's Headquarters Competition at the Shanghai West Bund and the winning entry for the Shanghai Huangpu Development Group Tower Competition.

Kyle joined Gensler Shanghai as a Climate and Sustainability Designer and was appointed as the Shanghai Office Sustainability co-leader. As a Sustainable Designer, Kyle helped implement key projects such as the thirty-two-story WPP Headquarters Campus Tower for the Nan Fung Group, Tishman Speyer's LEED Gold Campus for Nike, and the Knowledge Innovation Campus for ShuiOn Land, designed to be Shanghai's First LEED Platinum project.

Kyle led as a Sustainable Design Strategist and Design Architect in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Design Consultant on the 30,000m2 North Hampton College and Bio-Mass Energy plant project.

Worked on both residential and planning projects. Experience included all phases of design from site surveys to construction documentation.
