Senior Vice President And Chief Underwriting Officer
Current(Current Job Description) The Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer reports directly to the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and leads the Underwriting function with responsibility for the company’s underwriting profitability, underwriting strategy, product development and management, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory filings. Accountability includes the use and deployment of predictive analytics to drive the development and management of profitable underwriting and product solutions for small account business, while sophisticated loss rating models drive the underwriting of large accounts. This position is responsible to achieve business results that align with corporate goals through directing and overseeing work that improves quality and efficiency; developing technical competencies in the strategic business groups and other staff; and providing products and services to compete effectively in the marketplace. Responsible for staying current with regulatory, legislative, industry and economic trends. This position requires regular analysis of book of business performance and trends and recommends adjustments and responses; reviews changes and compliance requirements and ensures conformance; and develops external customer knowledge about the insurance line(s) of coverage. Responsibilities also include the development, monitoring and management of corporate rate and pricing strategies. Workers’ Compensation line of business is excess of $500.0 million written premium in 28 states. Functional oversight of Product, Underwriting Operations, and Premium Audit (staff consists of approximately 50 employees and managers).
