Mechanical and biomedical engineer pursuing a PhD in Medical Technology at KTH Royal Institute of Technology and a PhD in Medical Science at Karolinska Institutet through the KTH-KI Joint Doctoral Programme. My research focuses on the interactions between mechanical circulatory support (MCS) therapy and cardiovascular autoregulatory mechanisms in advanced heart failure. I study these interactions through benchtop, preclinical, and clinical studies, and I am particularly interested in using soft robotics to build biomimetic test rigs and physiologically interactive MCS medical devices. Before pursuing a PhD, I worked in the medical device industry and several academic projects in the United States, Switzerland, and Sweden, developing a specialisation in mechanical design and preclinical testing for cardiovascular devices (Class IIb and Class III Active Implant). Some of my past projects include Total Artificial Hearts (TAHs), oesophageal stents, angioplasty balloons, soft robotic models of human organ systems, biomimetic actuators and pumps, hydraulic/haemodynamic/durability test rigs, and preclinical in-vivo studies.
