For seventeen years I’ve grown and built upon my knowledge in CNC programming and manufacturing within the building/construction industry. However, my skills in CNC programming and machining go further back. Along with the standard courses of study, I focused on obtaining my CTE certificate in Machine Technology while attending Attleboro High School. I didn’t fully understand the value of learning a trade at the age of 18, but none the less, I received my certification and diploma in 2003. It wasn’t until on summer break from college while working at National Lumber loading trucks, that I had the opportunity to showcase a particular skill for programming and machining. I quickly fell back in the love with the trade. I was later offered a permanent position programming CNC machines for National Lumber’s Millwork Division. Working full time while finishing my Bachelor’s Degree proved to be a real challenge, but it taught me how to be responsible and manage my time wisely. While on my journey, I’ve worked with materials like wood, plastic, metal, and composites. I’ve designed and programmed custom pre-built stairs with Compass Staircase Software. Designed in AutoCAD various millwork moldings and projects, and used Solid Works to produce 3-dimensional prototypes for customers. I’ve programmed for 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC machines. Used Alpha Cam to produce carvings, various moldings, new prototypes, and machined parts for bigger projects. I’ve used WoodWOP to machine custom wood doors and frames. However, even with all my years of experience I still believe there is much more for me to learn. Moreover, I get excited about it. I look forward to the challenges that arise and projects that make it to my desk. I don’t see myself slowing down anytime soon, and will continue to improve upon myself as a leader and as a student.
