· Develop and maintain image processing and system control software for an optical space surveillance program supporting a DoD customer· Lead developer for all data simulators; replicate full telescope functionality in software including astrometric and photometric calculations, user and system inputs, and error handling· Adapt existing camera simulator to meet new customer requirements for higher resolution images; implement multi-threading and algorithmic improvements to data transmission· Develop and implement new simulator for auxiliary controller that replicates moving motor in three dimensions improving ability for operators to debug commands on physical telescope· Perform timing analysis on control processor to identify bottlenecks; identify root cause and eliminate unnecessary camera configurations changes resulting in increased efficiency and reduced image acquisition time· Interface with JPL scientists on system design and implementation· Automate user-intensive calibration process to increase efficiency and meet customer operational needs· Debug high priority issues in control processor that, if not addressed, will crash the system· Develop multi-threading approach to image display front-end and image processor back-end to improve speed· Create logging solutions to identify problems with data transmission to external systems; interface directly with external partners to identify solutions· Provide software engineering perspective on problems involving complex photometric calculations· Contribute to system requirements documentation including Interface Control Document, Algorithmic Manual, and Technical Orders· Deliver software demonstrations to high level DoD customers showcasing how project meets contractual milestones
