In this role, I am responsible for leading the operation of a 25-foot Response Small Boat, ensuring safety and compliance with federal, state, county, and municipal laws and ordinances pertaining to US Coast Guard property and jurisdiction. Additionally, I supervise a team of subordinates that included training, evaluating performance and skills, completing physical and psychological assessments, and providing instructions for special assignments. I also serve as an instructor for new Federal Law Enforcement Academy officers, and as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer with arrest authority, leading state and federal violation investigations. As a qualified dispatcher/watch-stander, I manage all communication during operations and distress calls. I also act as a community liaison, addressing questions and complaints, and providing professional development training.

I oversee all aspects of state student transportation programs, comprised of 145 schools, analyzing key metrics and procedures for ensuring effectiveness and efficiency, additionally I manage a $150 million budget to assist in forecasting. Leading a team of inspectors and financial staff specializing in state statute, we establish goals and policies for safety compliance. Collaborating with key stakeholders is vital in long-term planning, which I assist with through program performance analysis. I also establish and maintain federal and state government relationships for determining efficiencies and compliance with state regulations. As a subject matter expert regarding program policies and state legislature, I contribute to state statute and guidance at Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee hearings. Additionally, I collaborate with state project managers in the development of procedures, and financial plans, and facilitate meetings with local and state government officials and associations as the material expert for Student Transportation programming.Key Accomplishments:• Performed in-depth analysis of traffic flow, walkways, and bike paths to develop multi-modal safety reports for use by legislators, state official, local level superintendents, and school boards.• Established a Student Transportation Electric Vehicle program, working closely with Idaho's elected Superintendent of Public Instruction, Idaho's Attorney General, state legislators, and outside legal counsel.• Implemented a statewide program review of local level student transportation contracts for determining irregularities, determining corrective action plans to address findings and deliver compliance.• Managed statewide transportation program inspections and corrective action plans for programs found to be uncompliant.• Proposed a new Idaho Student Transportation funding formula to Idaho State Senators to address current formula concerns and create a more effective and efficient system.

As a Field Training Officer, I mentored new officers in daily operations, reports, citations, authority, and jurisdiction relating to law enforcement duties on VA property. Additionally, I directed field investigations, served warrants, and provided police services as assigned, as well as, conducted monthly police training exercises and instruction. I was also tasked with identifying safety and health hazards for instruction on employing requirements for a safe environment, ensuring compliance with federal, state, county, and municipal laws, and ordinances pertaining to VA property and agency rules and regulations.

Tracked and identified potential security risks of travelers using visual observation, screening, and detection devices. Validated ticketing and identification requirements for travel. Served as qualified On-the-Job Trainer, responsible for delivering training of standard operating policies and techniques to Transportation Officers.

Directed field investigations, served warrants, and provided police services as assigned, as well as, conducted monthly police training exercises and instruction. Additionally, conducted daily operations which included writing reports, citations relating to law enforcement duties for the city of Nampa, Idaho.
