After I passed my apprenticeship, I got the role of working in the Air Import department within the Glasgow branch. Due to my experience of Air freight from my apprenticeship I settled in fairly quickly in to this.I handled multiple large accounts, making sure that shipments were tracked daily whilst also ensuring shipments were delivered on time and within transit times provided. Making sure that each jobs were invoiced in line with our internal KPI’s and keeping customer fully updated with each shipments status.I also learned how to customs clear goods when I was in this role, so much so that I was made CDS superuser for the whole air freight department. This meant I was tasked with attending calls with our centralised customs team regarding any updates from CDS/HMRC regarding tariff codes, waivers or licence changes etc.I became very well versed in customs clearances and very quickly began clearing all of my own air import shipments.Whilst at DB Schenker, I also took on the task of being on the on call rota for a specific customer we had in Aberdeen. This required me to work specific weeks 7am-7pm, Monday to Sunday, and being available to work within these hours and monitor and clear goods out of hours whilst working with airlines and arranging call outs to have goods delivered out of hours to our customer.

Served a 2 year apprenticeship with DB Schenker, learning all 3 most common modes of transport (Air, Ocean and Road) and also some quoting/sales roles. I developed a strong baseline of knowledge with incoterms, customer service skills, keeping in line with internal KPI requirements, staying on top of transit reports for customers shipments across multiple modes, customer service skills and also some market trends in terms of current rates for specific lanes and much more. This base of general knowledge of the freight industry gave me a good platform to grow and become more confident with difficult tasks at an early stage.I passed my apprenticeship with multiple modules being graded as distinctions, also whilst during the COVID pandemic was on going.
