The role of the Traffic Management Center (TMC) Operator is to keep an eye on current traffic conditions and address any issues or concerns reported by the public. They are also responsible for monitoring all ITS devices and applications to ensure they function correctly. If there are any traffic incidents, like disabled or abandoned vehicles, accidents, or street congestion, the TMC Operator reports them to the public through the City's ITS website or Dynamic Message Signs. If there are any disabled vehicles or accidents, they alert police dispatch. To alleviate traffic congestion or address concerns reported by the public, the TMC Operator uses the City's ATMS to adjust traffic signal timings.

As one of my duties, I oversaw the upkeep of 16500 regulatory, warning, and directional signs by utilizing SignCAD software for their creation and production. In addition, I handled Right-of-Way permits and ensured adequate traffic management on roads and highways during closures. I also assisted the field supervisor in supervising other staff members who were working in the field.
