Registered Nurse with 4.5 years of experience. Previous areas of work include: Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Oncology, Emergency Medicine, and Psychiatric Mental Health. Over the course of my first two years, functioned as a bedside RN on the Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit where I gained mastery over time management and communication with peers, leadership, and patients. I was promoted to Charge Nurse by management and learned to manage the unit flow and personnel. While completing the clinical requirements of my Master's program, worked part-time in the ED and part-time on an inpatient psychiatric unit. Continued to develop time management and communication skills while also further developing my critical thinking and clinical knowledge of both emergency services and psychiatric stabilization. While working in psychiatric medicine, I had the privilege of working with both adults and children/adolescents. In my clinical experience, I was mentored by an incredible PMHNP who educated and trained me over 9 months to a point where I was capable of seeing return visit patients independently with minimal oversight and complete initial assessments, seeking guidance on complex cases. Towards the last half of my education, with the rising demands of COVID, I was able to obtain a position as a Nurse Manager on an inpatient psychiatric unit, and functioned as such for 18 months, working to improve the success of the unit in meeting National and state standards while simultaneously providing excellent care and services to our Veterans in need of psychiatric stabilization. I worked closely with multiple disciplines to improve communication and collaboration both on the unit and throughout the facility. This role also provided opportunities to function as project manager over various construction projects impacting the unit, as well as nurse educator, building and providing education for 55+ staff, including permanent and float staff. More recently, I have transitioned to a role as a clinical nurse educator, providing educational training to up and coming nursing students, excited to enter the workforce and leave an impact on the care provided to those in need.
