The exposure to a broad range of disciplines furthered both my practical and technical skills in all facets of the construction process. Additionally it has honed my ability to understand, simplify, solve and communicate any problem while foreseeing and preventing future problems. This multidisciplinary project exposed me to a high level of construction intensity, enabling me to undertake a wide variety of responsibilities from which I could learn and develop skills such as problem solving, time management, critical thinking and people management. Tanzania, Zanzibar

Coastal Dredging Construction Company is the contractor responsible for dredging and shoreline stabilisation at the Verde Hotels (Zanzibar) site. In addition to project managing for Verde Hotels, a consulting and managerial position was undertaken at Coastal Dredging. This included the design and construction of a concrete anchor wall and drainage system for the marina sheet piles. A design proposal for a breakwater to protect the marina from wind-waves was also compiled.

Port Elizabeth Area, South Africa

The practical study was conducted in a consulting format for Transnet National Port Authority (TNPA) to analyse the longshore sediment dynamics and shoreline changes. Data analysis and interpretation, coupled with numerical modelling in the form of MIKE21 SW and LITPACK Littoral Processes models was used.

Cape Town Area, South Africa

Assisted GIBB Consulting engineers with the rehabilitation of the van Riebeeck Road, South Africa. This included the support of the site engineer as well as working alongside the project manager in a site inspection and managerial capacity. Measurements and data were collected, processed and documented.

Worked alongside the site engineers at GIBB Consulting to oversee and facilitate therehabilitation and construction of the dual carriageway mountain pass.
