As a graduate student at Ohio University, I gained experience using SPSS and I conducted research with both qualitative and quantitative data. I co-wrote a research paper titled “Perceptions and Reality of Press Freedom Following the Arab Spring: An Analysis of Egypt, Iraq, and Tunisia" that was accepted to last year’s AEJMC conference. I wrote articles for Ohio University’s Institute for International Journalism, and I acted as Assistant for Video Production, writing and filming promotional videos for the Scripps School of Journalism.I earned a scholarship through Ohio University to practice journalism in Cambodia during Summer 2019, where I am writing articles and producing content for the university website. My duties include working with local journalists, interviewing sources, and writing feature stories.

While teaching students at Fort Frye High School, I was in charge of developing the course curriculum and outcomes for 8th grade English and Reading. I taught 8th and 9th grade students according to state guidelines and received positive feedback from students and administration alike. I instructed seven English and Reading lessons per day with approximately twenty students per course. I worked alongside a co-teacher for some of these courses and learned how to accommodate students with emotional and learning disabilities.

When I served as a reading specialist for I Can Read, I instructed groups of children from the ages of three to twelve during eighteen sessions per week. My students came from a variety of backgrounds with different mother tongues. I used Total Physical Response methods to teach basic phonics and vocabulary to young students entering an English language program for the first time. After students established phonics skills, I used special materials with diacritics to help them achieve reading and writing comprehension.

As a teacher for Disney English, I instructed children aged three to ten in English as a second language. I used Total Physical Response methods to introduce and reinforce vocabulary and grammar skills. I developed activities to appeal to a variety of learning types, and I worked closely with a native Chinese co-teacher to help our students transform their English skills into projects such as academic writing and song performances.

After finishing my MA in English at Liberty University, I stayed on for a semester and served as instructor for three sections of Composition and Literature. I taught modes of discourse, critical thinking strategies, and comprehension through genre. I also served as the grader for a large section of Post-Civil War American Literature. I received overwhelmingly positive evaluations from my students.

In my first classroom teaching experience, I instructed two sections of Composition each semester. I prepared lecture slides and course materials for up to four lessons per week. I learned to balance the introduction of new material in my lessons with the need to re-address learning objectives from previous assignments. I learned to make class discussions student-oriented in order to drive participation and comprehension. I held office hours and made myself available for students via Blackboard and email. I received strongly positive feedback on student evaluations at the end of each semester.

I worked as part of a team of recruiters, admissions counselors, and academic advisors to provide steady support to the students of one of the world's fastest-growing online universities. I made and received phone calls, managed data using the Banner platform, and conducted research on competitors for presentations to management. I consistently received high performance ratings from my supervisors and received positive feedback from the students I helped during the enrollment process.
