I am a technology manager at Cleveland Cliffs Middletown, managing four engineers and four quality specialists. This position includes quality control for the galvanizing line, heat treating facilities, temper mills, and shipping departments. All quality documentation falls under this position including FMEA's, Control plans, SWOT's, Flow Diagrams, and all other documentation for ISO certification. In addition to the documentation side, all quality improvement projects, trial materials, and material changes(i.e. adjusting material routings to meet required properties) are the responsibility of the technology manager.

As a process engineer I worked in multiple departments throughout the mill including steelmaking, slabyard, hot strip mill, pickler/cold mills, and the temper and annealing facilities. For the majority of this time I was a quality control engineer for the quality department, working closely with planning, accounting, and the operations. For the last year I was a direct report engineer for the hot strip mill operation.

For two summers I co-op'd at Cummins as an assistant engineer. During that time I worked primarily on new material options for a future plunger assembly set and cataloging, weighing, and identifying the material type of all components of an assembled engine. The purpose of this latter project was to determine the exact elemental constitution within the engine for recycling purposes. I also worked closely with lead engineers on specialty projects such as nitriding and heat treating parts.
