I was the primary media contact for most academic and administrative units of the university, in addition to serving as editor of the Mercerian alumni magazine and News@Mercer e-newsletter and coordinating hometown and university news releases.

I was the primary media contact for the university, which consists of 12 schools and colleges and operates in the Macon, Atlanta, Savannah and Columbus (Georgia) markets.I distributed press releases and facilitated interviews and press conferences regarding university news and events, and manage the university news website at news.mercer.edu. I was editor of Reach health sciences magazine, the News@Mercer e-newsletter for faculty and staff, and the News@Mercer Alumni Edition e-newsletter, as well as a staff writer for the Mercerian alumni magazine. I contributed content and help guide strategy for the university-wide social media accounts.I was responsible for negotiating the office’s media monitoring and hometown news release distribution contracts.I served on the University Marketing Committee and have contributed to other committees and groups called to guide decision-making for major university branding and marketing initiatives.

I managed a staff covering news and sports in Greene and Morgan counties in Georgia. Duties included writing stories and columns, photography, page layout via QuarkXPress, posting content to the web via TownNews, creating and maintaining a Facebook page and proofreading and editing. Previously served as area sports editor.

I covered University of Georgia football for both print and online products. Duties included writing feature stories for the magazine, writing practice reports and game stories for the website and photographing practices and games for the website.

I served as a graduate teaching assistant as the instructor of record for two sections of Journalism 1010: Media Writing, a graduate research assistant for Dr. Marian Meyers and a graduate lab assistant in the film screening room while earning a master's degree in the Department of Communication.

I researched and crafted questions and conducted one-on-one videotaped interviews with Hank Aaron, Tony Barnhart, Furman Bisher, Wes Durham, Jim Kennedy, and Billy Payne to be used in the APC's inaugural Hall of Fame induction ceremony in September 2011.

I assisted with day-to-day operations — as well as several regular-season football games, an NCAA women's tennis regional, softball regional, golf regional and baseball regional — by writing wire and feature stories, capturing photos and videos, creating press conference notes, and posting updates to social media and the web.

I covered high school and local sports through stories, photos and some video. Additionally, I contributed to layout and page design, helped update the website and produced occasional non-sports news and features, as well as the weekly police blotter and real estate transactions.
