I focused primarily on three projects:1. Development of algorithms used for networks of stationary, high-precision GPS (GNSS) receivers to predict reference-station data for roaming RTK (real-time kinematic) receivers within the network. A primary component of this work is the estimation and prediction of real-time atmospheric effects on GPS signals across the network.2. Development of an agricultural engineering program to survey agricultural fields with high-precision GPS and to estimate optimal surfaces for grading the fields so that positive drainage is achieved. I have designed algorithms for non-traditional surfaces that typically yield a much closer fit to the existing topography than do more traditional surfaces. These new surface types often significantly reduce the amount of grading required, thereby reducing fuel consumption and the disturbance of topsoil.3. Development of a golf putting program. I worked with a physicist, computer scientist, surveyors, and inventors to improve upon best-known physics-models for putting, to characterize surface accuracy, and to define GPS localization and surveying routines.
