Assigned to supervise and lead the five Detectives and two Non-Sworn staff members tasked with investigating and successfully prosecuting the most heinous crimes committed within the City of Palm Springs. Ranging from multi-jurisdictional, multi-state Homicide investigations to Sexual Assaults, Robberies, Gang Crimes, Domestic Violence, Missing Persons, Battery and Assault with Deadly Weapons cases. This included cases like a quadruple, execution style, Murder and the Hate motivated attack of a local LGBTQ activist icon. As part of my duties in this assignment I also supervised the Department's School Resource Officer (SRO) while maintaining active relationships with District Administration. During this time I developed and implemented a Behavioral Threat Assessment program to disseminate critical Officer Safety Information regarding individuals who had either already demonstrated a propensity towards violence or who displayed risk factors which may indicate future violence. As a Police Officer within the Patrol Division of the Palm Springs Police Department we participate in everything from Community Oriented Policing to Crisis Intervention. While engaging with our vibrant and diverse community I was consistently a shift leader in the areas of Directed Enforcement efforts and a high performer when it came to identifying Problem Oriented Policing strategies. This focussed approach led to me being assigned to the Department's Crime Suppression Team (CST) as an Officer and later as a Sergeant.The Crime Suppression Team consisted of a plainclothes Sergeant and three plainclothes Officers who were tasked to reduce crime and apprehend wanted persons through a collaborative Directed Enforcement approach which could be adjusted and redirected in realtime as crime trends changed and Hot Spots were identified. While serving in this assignment I was afforded the unique opportunity to be attached to a State Narcotics Task Force and later with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to participate in various Undercover Operations.
