Starting off as an insurance broker in sale, the owner of the business identified my skill set as a strategic thinker and a problem solver. I was given the opportunity to work with a consultant to optimise the opportunity to develop a new department in risk management one of the first in the Municipal insurance industry.• Overseeing duties of Risk assessors, team of 10;• Project Management;• Planning, designing and implementing an overall risk management process for the clients;• Risk assessment, which involves analysing risks as well as identifying, describing and estimating the risks affecting the clients;• Establishing and quantifying the organisation's 'risk appetite', i.e. the level of risk they are prepared to accept;• Carrying out processes such as implementing health and safety measures and making business continuity plans to limit risks and prepare for if things go wrong;• Providing support, education and training to staff to build risk awareness within the organization;• Analysing tender data, compiling requirements in tender• documents and submitting for consideration;• Electronically loading risk registers onto system and maintaining risk registers changes via the same system;• Critical analysis of risk management data, maintaining risk registers, risk assessing & reports and risk system implementation;• Interpretation of relevant legislation, generate and validate recommendations made on such basis;• Direct reporting to and participation on Executive committee;
