About Kyle Robertson
Growing up in the regional south-west I was always surrounded by nature, and fascinated by the natural world. Seeing our impact on our fragile ecosystems made me seek to connect that fascination with a career focused on the protection and preservation of our wild spaces and species. From my early Cert IV in CALM, and through my Bachelor of Science in Conservation and Wildlife Biology at ECU, that dedication allowed me to develop essential career skills, graduating with offers for Honours and Masters by Research. In my final year of study, a placement with DBCA, allowed me to contribute to feral cat and native marsupial population monitoring in the Pilbara. This placement included a 2 week field deployment on Matuwa Kurrara Kurrara IPA. At Matuwa IPA, I built upon previous volunteer experience and gained critical animal handling and fieldwork skills. In the summer of 2021/22, I undertook a scholarship with King's Park Biodiversity Conservation Centre. My research during this time focused on genomic and genetic monitoring of Grevillea scapigera populations. My participation enabled me to develop critical lab skills and experience while also working as a lab technician for ECU and undertaking Masters study. While my experiences have lead me this far, I am always seeking new opportunities to learn. From my self-directed study of GIS and Python, to other technical endeavours, my growth mindset has always been a major asset.
Listed skills include Population Ecology, R, Biological Monitoring, Wildlife, and 46 others.
