This role was the perfect introduction to the Australian wine and spirits industry. I was exposed to brands that are entrenched in Australia's culture (such as Penfolds) and I was able to engage with a wide consumer base, from experienced wine collectors to those just looking for the perfect drop.

This role gave me the opportunity to further develop my commercial acumen by managing contract and trade agreements and negotiations. Being on the ground, managing key accounts and building strong relationships with my clients allowed me to see growth opportunities and act on them quickly. With my experience of being a BA, not only was I able to get clients to buy into the ethos of our brands but I could show them their return on investment.

I had the incredible opportunity to become a BA in which my main aim was to drive advocacy throughout the bar community and consumers. This endeavour awarded me the opportunity to travel all over South African and into Ghana, Kenya and Mozambique. In such a competitive environment, I ensured that my brands were strategically placed and that I managed key relationships effectively. The best part of this role was being able to tell the stories of the brands I worked with and to bring them to life. I really enjoyed my time working at Greatsoft as it opened my eyes to a new industry which is practice management software for accounting and auditing firms. With that came opportunities to research, source new business and maintain the current client database. I was able to hone my public speaking skills (which is one of my passions) by presenting our product offerings at seminars. This industry proved to be very interesting as its constantly changing which pushed me and my team always be a step ahead. I was able to save my client's on average R5,000 per employee per month, which meant that even a typical medium sized practice with 15 staff saved up to R900,000 per year. I enjoyed being able to ensure that my clients could make more money by saving them time.

While working at Shaker, I was entrusted with the task of coordinating and executing both private and company events by taking an idea and bringing it to life. Though these events, I was required to manage the generating of quotes, reporting, tacking finances, and ordering and managing stock. By working with various alcohol brands, it afforded me the opportunity to consult with some venues regarding their menus as well as MC-ing interactive cocktail workshops.
