Functional Manager, Enterprise Systems Hardware Development
CurrentManage the organization responsible for delivering the IBM zSystems Mainframe product line. This organization spans 4 departments that contribute to mainframe development and interfaces heavily with supply chain and product quality, processor development, memory development, SW/FW development, client support, procurement, compliance, and product management. - Mechanical development: Delivering all mechanical aspects of the mainframe including the frames, doors, slides, structure, heatsinks, drawer mechanicals, interconnect technologies including sockets and cables, etc. - Thermal development: Delivering all technologies and components to cool the mainframe, this team designs, tests, and releases the heat sinks, water cooling loops and cold plates, cooling liquids, fan technologies, TIM materials, and any other thermal/mechanical interfaces for the Mainframe. - Power subsystem development: Delivering all power regulation, power management, and power firmware, this department ensures power is supplied and managed from the lowest core chip voltage to the data center incoming connections and everything in between. They are also responsible for the functional firmware that manages the power for the system from power on to max performance and power down. - IO development: Delivering all printed circuit boards responsible for interconnectivity in the Mainframe, this team owns developing the electronics that provide a variety of features for our products from accelerators, to crypto devices, to fiberchannel/ethernet, to PCIe high speed connections. They also own the firmware that controls the functions of these PCBs as well as the data handling for performance and quality tracking.
