About Kyle Beatty

My personal MTP (Massive Transformative Purpose) is to Enable Offsets of the Multi-Sided Impacts of Hurricane Katrina.I am motivated to build & grow organizations that:• Are diverse• Are technical• Address significant global problems• Focus on ideas, solutions, customers, personal growth & fun• Measure success through top-line growth & utility• Talk about people, not headcount• Have clear values I am a customer-centered business leader. My teams accelerate the development of revenue, reduce the time to recover investment, & increase the success rate of new initiatives. We know how to monetize data & ideas. We understand operations & know the story behind the numbers. We focus on people & pipelines (technical, customer and stakeholder) to have foresight. To us, customer-centered means creating success for our sponsor(s) & a positive ROI for their organization. This is not a spreadsheet or a launch planning exercise. This is a constant, all employee, full-cycle focus.I am a learner. I embody a Growth Mindset. I look for change, rather than tolerate it. I am persistent & patient (aka “grit”). I read 1 book a week & follow a diverse set of blogs, w/ bias toward artful flare & a connection to the heart.I am a science, math & data geek. A field laboratory is much more appealing to me than a clean room w/ lab coats. I love working directly w/ scientists & engineers to originate & deliver technical insights that positively affect people’s lives.I am self-aware. I balance confidence w/ humility & balance accountability w/ collaboration. I prefer starting new things to operating cash cows. I am transparent about my limitations. In 360 Degree Reviews, teams I work w/ & learn from have share I should: simplify, focus on fewer projects, work less, stay out of the weeds, demonstrate EQ more deliberately, & delegate more effectively. I own / embrace that feedback & focus on this daily to become a stronger leader.

2001 - 2005 ~4 yrs

Graduate Research Assistant

Norman, Oklahoma, Us

When I reflect on this experience, I am reminded of Eric Schmidt's quote "Revenue solves all known problems." Coming into the program with outside money provided the freedom to organize a new kind of graduate committee and pick a topic I was inspired by. My team included an invaluable mix from the university, federal and independent consulting sectors. An early instinct that the most senior person is not always the smartest or most passionate. This was also my first experience in a pivot. Classes were very linear, research was not. I made a very important and difficult decision with my committee to pivot mid-stream. This extended the length of my work significantly, and the end product was much stronger for it.While the opportunity to stay for my PhD was there, I yearned to get back to business.

Aug 1999 - May 2001

Teaching Assistant

Norman, Oklahoma, Us

As I often do, I dove into this role with vigor to change how we do this for the better. Some ideas worked, some didn't -- a great experience in experimentation. This showed me the importance of a leader (our Director) to give his team a long leash and was also the place where a developed my deep interest in STEM mentoring.* Taught technical material to 125 students of varied experience levels* Modernized the Orientation in Professional Meteorology course to emphasize the fundamentals of meteorological analysis and the exploration of internet data sources* Developed on-line laboratory exercises and interactive tutorials to familiarize students with meteorological data sources
