The most important thing that I learned from this job is that people really respond to quality service. The elderly residents at Woodland Pond made me learn that I care about people. In any aspect of my job, I attempted to create the highest level of service possible in order to make a difference for just one person. One of the highest remarks that I garnered was cooking the best meal that a ninety year old woman said that she had ever had in her life. During my four years of moving up the chain from waiter to closing manager, I believe my unrelenting dedication for doing things better such as organizing job flows, increasing cleanliness of the dining room, and adapting better presentation techniques from other organizations, allowed my leadership ability to shine through. Some projects that I was a part of:-Improving the lunch specials on the menu to utilize $700 in food waste per week-Creating and managing job lists that increased teamwork and allowed employees to get done 30% faster while improving the cleanliness of the facility-Researching benefits of higher quality production tools such as, digital thermometers and honing steels to improve precision when following Food Safety protocols for a nursing establishment.

Creating functional menu concepts, coordinating employees, and regulating ordering and inventory were the main responsibilities of this small cafe and new business that I helped run. Improving marketing and pricing for our small market were the most important challenges that I analyzed and adjusted each month. By the end of the first year we created a sustainable business that could rely on word of mouth reputation to be a success in our up and coming neighborhood. As a seasonal business, it is now set up to have better margins and lower operating expenses for the next year.
