I managed rig site safety which entails over 150+ personnel on site from over 15 different contractors and 30+ Chevron employees. I was responsible for ensuring safety compliance with industry and Chevron standards. I achieved compliance through: evaluation of contractor safety management systems, weekly site audits, training/mentoring/coaching, managing the behavioral based safety systems, performing maintenance on safety equipment, monitoring contractor preventative maintenance schedules, emergency management procedures to include weekly, monthly and quarterly drills, implementing lessons learned/best practices meetings, routine safety meetings, and hazard/risk identification and analysis. Supplementary Roles: - Implement innovative safety software, never been utilized before by Chevron, as the SME- Evaluate contractor safety management systems during the tendering phase of contract negotiations- Create emergency response procedures- Create basic work site awareness training for local employees in absence of governmental standards- Create project review that measured safety implementation from the beginning to the end of the project using quantifiable data- Supervise construction of rig site from a safety standpoint

I began with Transocean as a utility hand and worked my way up to a Night Rig Safety and Training Coordinator (RSTC). I worked 3 years on nights refining my skills and honing my abilities to affect change. After 3 years, I had proven my value to Transocean enough for them to give me my own rig as a day time RSTC. I was promoted and relocated from the Gulf of Mexico to West Africa. In West Africa, I was responsible for being the subject matter expert of Transocean's safety management system and was held accountable for my rig's evaluations during internal audits. Our lagging indicators were measured versus other rigs in West Africa and against the entire fleet and before my departure to Chevron my rig was the best in West Africa and top 10% out of 60+ deep water vessels. Accomplishments:- Created, implemented and evaluated Occupational Health respiratory fit test system in congruence with our international standards- Transitioned from our old Safety Management System (SMS) to our new/updated SMS and had my rig fully ready for implementation ahead of schedule by 2 weeks. We were the first vessel in West Africa ready for implementation, and one of the first in the fleet.- Involved in 3 rig moves and 2 operator changes- Trained 5 RSTC candidates of which 3 were hired and promoted
