Kyle Darbonne is the principal of Fireweed Academy, a K-6 public charter school in Homer, Alaska. Fireweed engages students to learn, grow, and thrive within their community through project based learning, music and arts, restorative practices, and outdoor exploration.Previously, Kyle served as Prevention Coordinator for South Peninsula Haven House where he implemented upstream prevention efforts. He also worked as the Migrant Education Specialist the Kenai Peninsula School District where he was able to advocate for migrant students and their families to achieve academic success.Before moving to Homer, Kyle worked as a science teacher and later as Dean of Students at an alternative public middle and high school in Littleton, CO.Kyle received his B.S. in Biology with a Psychology minor and a Master’s in Teaching from Whitworth University in Spokane, WA. He received his Principal Certification from Lamar University and holds an administrative license in the State of Alaska.
