In this hybrid role, I am directly responsible for all store operations for two stores in central Ottawa as well as overseeing one store in St. John’s, NL. Initially responsible for the two Ottawa locations, I increased YOY sales results by over $300k in a 14-month period, oversaw the retraining and rebuilding of the store teams, and secured several cross-promotional partnerships with local events and organizations. After one year with the company, I was promoted to Area Manager for the company’s first out-of-province location in Newfoundland. While still effectively managing my previous locations, I recruited a team for the new store, oversaw the arrival and merchandising of all stock and store fixtures, and successfully prepared the store for opening.

As store manager for the Ottawa location, I was responsible for day-to-day operations for the store, in coordination with the owner and warehouse manager. I oversaw scheduling, purchasing, receiving, vendor returns, supervising workshops and events, and other operational tasks involved with running a small business. Unfortunately, my time with Venus Envy was cut short after a fire next door forced the store to close.

During my employment as custom framing department manager at Michaels, I oversaw both the design counter and production shop. On the counter, I trained department associates in design, colour theory, customer service, add-ons, and general sales behaviours. In the shop, I performed and oversaw the production and assembly of framing solutions for artwork, documents, mementos, and other object safely, and to a high standard.

While delivering customer orders at all times of day and in all types of weather, I maintained a customer satisfaction rating of 99%.

Responsible for the technology sales, office supplies, merchandising, and receiving departments at two consecutive big-box locations, I also spent over half my tenure filling in multiple management vacancies in the technology services, print shop, and cash counter departments. At my first store, I helped drive a 3% YOY increase in overall sales, 17% increase in technology services sales, and 28% print and marketing sales in fiscal year 2018. The store finished #1 in overall performance in the GTA West district that year, and was nominated for national Store of the Year.

Shortly after taking over the web fulfillment department at the HMV Megastore in Montreal, I oversaw the relocation of the department to downtown Toronto. I provided leadership, guidance, and strategic planning for the e-Commerce team, recruited and trained a new team of more than 20 employees, and managed the day-to-day operations of the web fulfillment team. This included the picking, packing, and shipping of up to 900 orders per day. I worked with the e-Commerce manager to identify sales trends and opportunities, and provided occasional support to the customer support and web development teams. During the 2016 holiday season, I oversaw a 200% YOY sales increase in the department while drastically improving the accuracy and fulfillment times for customer orders.

Upon taking over my first store, I oversaw a 6% YOY increase and 88% reduction in shrink for fiscal year 2013, the first profitable year for a store that had previously struggled since opening in 2008. I was subsequently promoted to a store with twice the annual sales volume before relocating to Montreal to work with the e-Commerce team. I managed all aspects of store operations on both day-to-day and strategic levels, including forecasting and managing budgetary, infrastructure, and human capital needs while allocating limited resources in a rapidly changing market.
