I remember the first day of my junior year of high school walking down the halls not having a clue about what I wanted to do with my life. The art room had a row of computers dedicated to our graphic design class so I took a seat. One week in and I fell in love. Three weeks in and I jumped at the opportunity to shadow graphic and web designs for the day, and just like that I knew. During the rest of high school, when I wasn’t working on learning more about web design, I was working at the shave ice business my brother and I built, owned, and operated. And when I wasn’t working there, I was working on improving the website that I built for it. I began schooling at BYU Idaho where I am currently studying, working towards a Web Design and Development degree, after a semester I was able to intern on the web team at a company called Advisors Excel and interned with them for nearly two years in total. It filled the creative and problem-solving parts of my soul. I also had the privilege of being recruited to their digital marketing team as they were working on rolling it out. The next nine months were a blast as I learned all about paid ads, google analytics, and integration. During that year I also headed up the creating content for and running the company’s social media accounts. I’m back at school now but I take every chance I get to learn from mentors and develop my skills in design, coding, and marketing.
