As a biomedical engineer I am interested in designing devices and solutions that inform patient care to improve outcomes and patients' quality of life. For the past several years I have been developing an underfoot load sensing technology to monitor patient weight-bearing behavior during lower extremity fracture rehabilitation. This device has been used in clinical trials to collect novel data in the field of fracture rehab. My current focus is to use advance analytical techniques, including machine learning, to analyze the effect of patient weight bearing behavior on lower extremity fracture outcomes. Additionally, I am working to transition the underfoot load sensor for mHealth applications. My ultimate goal is to improve lower extremity fracture rehabilitation by moving the field towards data-drive rehabilitation protocols and improve the rehabilitation experience for the patients.

Design EngineerUniversity Of Utah Bioengineering Department Jan 2010 - Apr 2013I oversee the design of the sensing component of a proprietary, portable, long term, load sensing system to study and guide lower extremity fracture healing. My responsibilities include device design, SolidWorks design, sensor verification testing, and FDA design control management. I work closely with our orthopedic team to translate their needs into device components. I assist in managing consultants in the design of the electronic components for data processing and storage. I prepare manuscripts, grant applications, and IRB applications.

Adjunct FacultySalt Lake Community College Jun 2010 - Aug 2012Taught two classes of Biol 2320 Human Anatomy for 7 semesters. Dedicated, enthusiastic, and effective teacher of a difficult subject. Highly rated among students for clarity, fairness, and enthusiasm while still making students work hard to learn the subject. My focus was on giving the students all the tools to learn anatomy and succeed in their future education. Class was highly organized into 4 units, 1 exam and quiz per unit. Study guides were available prior to class, followed the lecture and coordinated with lab curriculum. Exams included different sections to encourage different types of learning of the material. -
Medical AssistantUniversity Of Utah Hospitals And Clinics May 2003 - May 2008Sugarhouse Family PracticeWelcomed patients, took vitals, updated patient's medical records, and recored reason for visit. Managed in-house lab in the evening where I would preform venipunctures, collected a variety of lab samples from patients, processed samples prior to sending them to the external labs. Worked in teams of 2-20 with a wide range of clinical workers. Received employee of the month 4 times due to consistent hard working, punctuality, and dependability.
