Moving into a leadership and management position at Fairmont Pacific Rim, I was responsible for developing group business in the local BC and Alberta local corporate markets. I created & maintained prospecting lists from which I would solicit new business and promote growth in established accounts through client entertainment and site inspections, sales calls, networking events, and industry functions. My role also included fully servicing confirmed pieces of business, from initial inquiry through to planning and execution of the program including banquet event and menu planning and working with our onsite audio visual provider and all hotel operational departments to ensure a smooth and successful event.

Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel

Based at the iconic Fairmont Pacific Rim, I supported the International Sales Manager in booking group business for 3 Vancouver Fairmont Hotels.In addition to working with proposals, contracts and cost estimates, this position required quick response to leads and quoting on room rates, and food and beverage spends for group programs, small and large.I arranged and lead site inspections, with a focus on thorough and efficient service as well as timely follow up which has led to the forging of strong relationships with local Destination Management Companies.Additional responsibilities included month end reporting to corporate standard, and working with revenue management to ensure strategic quoting to maximize top line revenue for the hotel.

Based at the head office of the company, my role was to assist the executive team. My main tasks revolved mostly around the 11 branches of the company. This includes running bi-weekly audits to measure production and retention both by branch and as an agency. As the company administrator for TAM, the insurance policy and information system used by Capri, I also worked with the training team to implement and update new procedures to the insurance sales process. In addition, I also managed our social media initiatives as well as company events such as meetings, fundraisers and volunteer efforts.

Whilst on a yearlong travelling venture throughout Australia, my working holiday Visa allowed me to work for a six month term, during which I was employed as a sales and events assistant at a function venue in the city of Brisbane In addition to leading site inspections of the venue, I also created contracts and deposit invoices for clients as well as weekly audits to payment schedules. Other duties included drafting “run sheets” of the upcoming events to be distributed to the kitchen and banqueting teams and maintaining a comprehensive database of client information using the event system Events Perfect.

During my time in the Sales & Marketing department at Four Seasons Resort Whistler, Canada’s only AAA Five Diamond rated resort, I supported an on-site and remote team of ten sales managers in both group and individual travel fields. In addition to creating attractive proposals and formal agreements for clients, I also assisted with creating collateral and pro-gram estimates to assist in confirming business for the resort. My administrative duties also included processing payroll and purchase orders.In June 2009, I was promoted to Wedding Representative, effectively increasing the number of weddings at the resort by 55% in just under a year. The job entailed meeting with prospective couples, leading detailed site inspections of the resort, creating budgets and working closely with the Catering team to present menu samples. I also cultivated successful relationships with outside vendors such as wedding planners, decor companies, photographers to name a few, and hosted a booth at several wedding tradeshows.
