When thinking about the skills and achievements I have acquired from my past, medals, awards, or formal recognition do not come to mind. To me, my biggest achievements is the growth and development I have seen in myself over the years in my life.Growing up, I wasn't the perfect son, the best student, nor the kid anyone wanted to approach. My parent's have always been my biggest supporters, but when I was younger, I didn't see that. After 14 years, we moved out of the terrible neighborhood I was raised in. In this new community, I replaced the negative company with positive individuals. This allowed me to see who I was before. I didn't like what i saw, so made a change for myself and my family. This showed me, you are the company you keep.In school, I was the kid in the back of the room, avoiding any questions asked by my teachers. My confidence in-front of strangers was non-existent up until I acquired my first job. At 15 years young, I went door-to-door, selling newspaper subscription nobody wanted. Being the quiet individual I was, it was difficult to acquire any commission. Time passed, I learned the script, developed my posture, and gained experience for each door I approached. From this, I learned repetition, practice, and being coachable led to growth and confidence.10th grade, nobody found the 6'2" white/asian guy, who grew up in a rougher side of town completely approachable. Looking back at those years, I still don't see it because I looked like and was a dork. Although I changed my peers, it wasn't enough for people to see me in a new light. So at the age of 15, I had to do something out of my comfort zone. I enrolled into my school's dance class. For the next three years, I learned to connect with others and hold myself confidently in front of strangers throughout the school. I had adapted and overcame my problem.These skills and milestones had led me to a rewarding military career. A career which taught me patience, leadership, critical thinking, and many more.
