Profile bio

About Kyle Green, P.Eng.

I am an Electrical Engineer with a keen interest in electronics design and a burning desire to find solutions to any problem I encounter. Over the past 15+ years I have worked on projects ranging from mission critical air traffic wireless radio links to writing a technical textbook used by engineering students at the University of Alberta to designing and manufacturing a frequency specific micro-current medical device to developing a low cost, low power platform of oilfield remote monitoring and communication equipment. Most recently I have been developing next generation heat trace controllers.Throughout these projects I have risen to many challenges and honed my skills as an electrical hardware designer. I have taken multiple products from an initial idea to production and understand the intricacies and hurdles that are encountered in the design process. I also have experience with various regulatory agencies (CSA, UL, IEC, FCC, PTCRB, FDA, etc) and understand how to meet their stringent requirements so that any product will pass their certification process.

Listed skills include Electrical Engineering, Electronics Hardware Design, Wireless, Rf, and 13 others.

Main Project Radio Links Replacement Project · Basis of project was the replacement of out-dated analog point-to-point radios (300MHz range) with new digital point-to-point radios (900MHz range). These links are used for last mile hop applications connecting mission critical equipment at remote sites to dedicated networks - Assembled RFQ's and RFP's - FAT/SAT/POP Tested equipment while coordinating work with contractors - Completed Site Survey's/RF Designs/Path Profiles/Safety Code 6 Analysis for over 20 sites - Developed technical documentation & training for this new radio equipment - Ran two training sessions for the Tech Ops Personnel instructing them how to operate, maintain & repair the system - Supervised Tech Ops Personnel during field installations and programming of the equipment - Prepared to-scale drawings and schematics of equipment and sites using AutoCAD - Investigated & solved performance problems (modem connections, radio failure, MUX clock slips,...) Other Projects · - Saved the company $300,000 by developing a cost effective wireless alternative for 2W/4W/ETH services located at three remote sites. These sites did not have the mission critical requirements that the other radio link sites did and thus a smaller link fulfilled the requirements - Initiated planning for future migration from Analog to IP Infrastructure of National Network - Designed a new T1 Ring network infrastructure for the Calgary Terminal Control Unit - Selected appropriate sites for new ADS-B technology (Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast) - Reviewed Land Use Applications to ensure proposals met all electronic zoning guidelines
