About Kyle Hamrick
I've been a motion designer and video editor since 2003, working for a string of ad agencies and production houses while cultivating a successful freelance career, co-founding collective The Feral Few in 2010, then going solo freelance in 2019. After orbiting School of Motion as a teaching assistant and contributor, I joined the team full-time, serving as Senior Motion Designer and Creative Director from 2020-2023, when I returned to freelance. Apparently enjoying the challenge of an ever-changing workflow, I hop from animated explainer videos to live events for corporate clients; from historical IMAX documentaries to full graphics packages for professional sports franchises. My work has aired on ABC, Fox and FXX, and been shown in 11 major league sports venues.Discovering a love and natural talent for sharing knowledge after becoming an Adobe User Group Manager, I became an in-demand trainer for After Effects and Premiere Pro around the Midwest. I have been an adjunct animation instructor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and have presented at international conferences like Adobe MAX, NAB, After Effects World and Keyframes Conference.I also fill many of my off-hours creating things like photography, music, t-shirt designs, furniture, origami, and overly elaborate Halloween costumes. I enjoy using my talents for good, often contributing video and design to charitable and community organizations and events.My goal is to do what I enjoy, and be able to make a living doing it. So far, mission accomplished!
