About Kyle Hight, Ph.D., Che

Assistant Professor in the Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership at The University of Houston. My research focus is on Food and Beverage, Restaurant Operations, and Restaurant Entrepreneurship. My current streams of research are: 1) Restaurant Operations, 2) Mixed-use startup strategies in the hospitality industry, and 3) Work stress and substance use in the restaurant industry.Professionally, I have amassed over 15 years in the hospitality industry, primarily within restaurant operations. Past experience includes: Wine Buyer/Director, Hospitality Consulting Analyst, and various management and non-management restaurant positions. I hold an Associate's culinary degree from the Culinary Institute of America, a Bachelor's Degree of hospitality administration, a Master's Degree of Global Hospitality Management, and a Master's Degree of Professional Accountancy. In addition, I am a Certified Sommelier (Court of Master Sommeliers), a Certified Specialist of Wine (Society of Wine Educators), and have my Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA).
