Automation and Data make the world go 'round, and the systems I build are a drop in the ocean.The majority of my work is project-oriented with observability, automation, and break-fix across a hybrid fleet spanning the globe. My team and I work at multi-petabyte scale using tools such as Telegraf, ETLs in Python, RDBMS systems, Time-Series DBs, Kafka, Grafana, ElasticSearch, and much more to provide visibility to our organization's 50,000+ hosts.Soft skills have been critical in this role as I translate deep technical problems to non-technical personnel. Likewise, I'm often asked to step into the "big picture" and offer my expertise on solutions, as well as translate those business needs to engineers.

Approximately 50% was, in a word, DevOps. Acted as liaison to programmers and operations staff to reduce barriers, minimize or eliminate manual processes via automation, and bring us ever-closer to end-to-end delivery. This included technical challenges and cultural challenges, especially in management and on the operations team (my team) as we moved away from 'running as root' toward 'infrastructure as code'.Other 50% was training, long-term planning of IT offerings, and selection and prototyping of new technologies to further automate, improve, and optimize the I.T. department's goal of supporting new business needs while maintaining older systems.

Maintain the IT infrastructure (both systems and networking) used at MWA. Responsible for handling annual PCI audits and maintaining security throughout the year. I also function as the internal user support for employees.

Began as a support employee for the Cart32 E-Commerce application. Eventually came to manage the support department before transferring into the Systems Administration position for this company.

Performed basic user support for students in the computer labs. Common duties included assisting students with Microsoft Office, Visual Studio, CAD, and other lab software. I also helped new students get their domain accounts created and taught them how to use the online college services.
