UBC BAJA develops off-road vehicles to race in the annual BAJA SAE design competition, where the vehicles race in harsh terrains and compete in a variety of different endurance and strength tests. I followed a strict set of design guidelines to ensure my components didn't breach any dimension rules. During my time in the BAJA chassis sub-team I used SolidWorks to design:- Frame jigging plates to support the frame members in place as the chassis is being welded- A rear splash guard to prevent fuel and other liquids from dripping onto the engine- A tow hook with FEA stress analysis to ensure it can support the weight of the car- Determined the drag on the vehicle with CFD testing and explored options to lower it by incorporating aerodynamic plates- Interference detections to ensure my components never overlapped other components in the assembly
