I am an experienced field researcher who is most excited about zoology and wildlife conservation and how to both research wildlife while also helping conserve and protect organisms and habitats. I hope through field research to advance our understanding of the natural history and population ecology of various animal and insect taxa, such as: birds, hemipteran hoppers, odonata, lepidoptera, coleoptera, and reptiles & amphibians. I am also an avid wildlife photographer and am excited about how to increase our understanding of and ability to identify insects and animals through digital photography.

This has been my personal research project in North Carolina since the summer of 2013. I am researching the abundance and distribution of hemipteran hoppers (leafhoppers, treehoppers, planthoppers, and spittlebugs) across North Carolina, visiting various state parks to sample and photograph species and increase our knowledge of which species are found in.

I am one of several founding members of the North Carolina Biodiversity Project (NCBP), a private organization whose mission is to promote public interest in the state’s native species and ecosystems and in their conservation. This organization is composed of taxonomic experts, conservation biologists, and others that have had a long history of studying.
