I am a recent graduate from McMaster University, where I studied Electrical Engineering during my undergraduate degree. Currently, I am pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, also at McMaster. My research is in the design and control of multiport DC-DC converters for electric vehicle applications. After my third year of studies during my undergrad, I decided to take a year off of school and work in several co-op placements for 16 months. Most recently prior to graduate school, I worked in Ottawa at Nokia as an IPR Hardware Developer Engineer Co-op for 4 months in the summer term. Prior to that I had the privilege of working at General Motors CAMI Assembly Plant as an Electrical Engineering Intern for 12 months.

Prior to this project, the TEM Tester characterized thermoelectric generators (TEGs) by applying a normal pressure to the TEG. This pressure was applied and changed by manually torqueing a screw that compresses a spring on the copper blocks of the system. Technical Aspects of the Project:• Using an Arduino Uno, I learned how to program in C and Java and designed the circuitry of the stepper motor and driver with the microcontroller. • The program employed a PI controller. It continuously reads the TEM Tester's current pressure level, and moves the stepper motor's shaft, which was connected to a timing belt system, changing the pressure of the system according to a specified setpoint.• Using Python I programmed a GUI to display the controller's response as the TEM Tester reached the pressure setpoint.
