Tasked with commercializing “the most complicated therapy ever”, tailoring bespoke, genome-edited immune cells to attack tumors. Utilized precision genome engineering and advanced robotics to make personalized cell therapies for patients with cancer.Led transition from research towards cGMP operations of PACT’s personalized autologous cell therapy discovery and validation pipeline. Operationalized novel CRISPR based genome engineering, TCR isolation, and T-cell characterization platforms in support of the NeoTCR-P1 clinical trial. Responsibilities included upstream laboratory operations (gene editing, t-cell characterization, protein manufacturing, sequencing), engineering (lab automation, process engineering, production engineering), and process development (protein science, cellular engineering, tumor immunology, molecular biology)

Built and led a talented group of 60+ engineers and scientists to develop a scalable platform for genome engineering while guiding the company through hypergrowth that required rapid scale out of automated processes and personnel from 40 to 250 employees. Overhauled and scaled manufacturing processes, built out new business units (cell engineering and screening) and launched a half dozen new products. Responsibilities included software engineering (LIMS, data science, computational biology, devops), systems engineering (process engineering, laboratory automation), program management, hardware engineering, chemistry development, cellular engineering development and screening development.

Designed, built and operated a fully-automated lights-out clinical genomics laboratory capable of serving over 2,000 patients per day. Built and managed cross-functional teams of hardware engineers, software engineers, service engineers, and scientists while growing the overall organization from 20 to 500 employees.
