"Oops, you made your bucket public and leaked IP onto the internet." I joined as an early member during alpha and took the product to GA and beyond, serving as the tech lead for much of the time. The product was super popular with customers and profitable. We won by focusing on our customers and consistently delivering value.GCE is the GCP VM product. I was on the "Nanny" team which owned the VM hypervisor and surrounding systems. Build large-scale, distributed systems.Part of the BuilderTools group - we build tools that allow developers to rapidly develop, build, test, and deploy software. These tools increase the developer productivity across ALL of Amazon.Part of Apollo, Amazon's deployment system (http://www.allthingsdistributed.com/2014/11/apollo-amazon-deployment-engine.html). Apollo is a large scale, distributed system that runs deployment workflows, delivers artifacts, handles application startup, and so much more. Being one of the foundational Amazon services, we were frequently engaged by projects across the company and were able to have a very high impact.Contributed to the CIA's private AWS cloud spin up (http://www.forbes.com/sites/benkepes/2015/03/04/arise-the-spy-cloud-amazon-built-cia-private-cloud-is-go-with-some-007-apps-as-well/). The project presented some unique challenges due to its size and secrecy. The security requirements drove many innovative solutions.Went on to build and release AWS CodeDeploy (http://aws.amazon.com/codedeploy/) - an external deployment product. CodeDeploy automates application deployment, removing all the error-prone bits that have caused everyone so many outages.
