About Kyle Mackenzie
Since my late teen years I always dreamed of working in the music industry, and although it took time, patience and hard work, I now wake up every day to work in this amazing industry.Through the years I have worked in a variety of professions, but really I was trying to find my feet and understand where I belong in the world. From Sales Assistant in a video game shop, to designing posters at a local music venue, to being a Pizza Chef, I've tried a lot of different things but always had one consistent desire to do musical things.Since then I slowly developed a private music tuition business, teaching at my peak just over 100 students a week in a mixture of 1:1 lessons and group. It was hard work, but I absolutely loved my students and feeling like my efforts to teach them helped grow as musicians (and sometimes people!). During this time I also branched out to work with other local companies and met some great people and teachers.One of these companies was a small local teaching business called The Music Works. I absolutely loved their ethos, which is as much about giving young people opportunities and helping the local community, as it is about music education. I started teaching with them weekly at their music school in the afternoon/evening and eventually with them during the school day at local schools. I then started helping more and more with more and more things, like workshops, local events, sound engineering, and more and more I liked the company!Part of my involvement with TMW brought the benefit of gaining training from Yamaha Music School to deliver the Yamaha Method in my lessons. This method redefined how I taught beginners and small groups in those early days and I never looked back. Years on and I still use these techniques in every lesson, although I don't teach nearly as much these days.Fast forward to today and I am in my third year of being a Director at The Music Works. Every day i get to work with excellent, like-minded people to help deliver the best possible music lessons in our Music Schools and in our local Partner Schools. Being a Director now is as exciting now as it was on day one, and I find every day is a new challenge with new prospects and opportunities to help our students, teachers and local community.To quote the company line, 'Music For All'!

In Summer 2019 I embarked on the adventure of writing my first music tuition book and course, with my good friend and colleague Phil McKenzie. During this period we wrote a comprehensive beginner Ukulele book, which has since reached it's 3rd edition and third pressing!The course has been used to great effect to help young students around the Surrey area, but we wanted to also try and help students from around the world. This is when Vuzo was born and I went on an intense stint of filming in June 2019!Since then the initial Beginner Ukulele Course has been created and has been very well received by the early adopters. Next steps we will look at growth and writing new courses for a variety of instruments.

Here’s the original blurb, written by a mid-20’s man-child in the noughties:I run every aspect of the label, and most of the time, have a large hand in the music composition of the releases! Here's a little about the label:Got Wrong Records was set up in late 2013 / early 2014 by a late twenty-something Scottish lad named Kyle MacKenzie. Based in Guildford, Surrey, this super small and super DIY Independent label has had one full release under it's belt, with 7stbaby's debut album 'Control' (and subsequent singles/videos) and has acquired the back catalogue for Static Plan and Outpost Zeta.Got Wrong is in it's infancy, but it has big dreams. First and foremost, we love alternative music, and we want to share this love with others! We want to build that feeling of community that has been somewhat lacking in recent years, we want to be a little hub of awesomeness that lots of great bands huddle under to shelter themselves from the harsh weathers of the Music Industry. Sounds cool, right?!
