As senior barman I was responsible for the opening procedure and closing procedure of the bar. In addition, I was responsible for the training of new members of staff, and the supervision of busy night shifts. As this was a busy bar, I had to communicate effectively and work well within a team and under pressure. This position allowed me to improve my spoken French through interactions with customers, and specifically how to handle customer complaints.

I was responsible for the teaching of 5 seperate classes, containing students aged from 14 to 20. I was the sole teacher for 4 of the classes, including one class in the final year of preperation for exams. Many of the school's students were problem children. This job taught me how to work in a high stress environment and how to be more authoritative in dealing with discipline issues. I was responsible for planning 2 semesters of lessons, and preparing the students for end of year exams. My tests and exams had to be co-ordinated to my lessons and the requirements of the French curriculum. I had to work closely with my colleagues to coordinate lessons.

Serving customers to a consistently high standard. Ensuring my working environment meets all health and safety criteria. As a barman, I’m responsible greeting customers, assisting them while ordering, making and serving their drinks. I have to make sure that all customers are happy, and that the other members of staff are working efficiently. I have to make sure that the bar is fully stocked and operational for the next service. When on a room service shift, I am responsible for the speed and accuracy of delivery. I am responsible for acting under the brand standards at all times.
