Selected to serve at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in operations section to manage and coordinate training, medical coverage, and activities for the Army’s largest and highest-profile medical treatment facility, with an assigned strength of over 4,000 Soldiers and civilians. Responsibly for planning, developing, and executing plans that directly support Coalition, Joint, and Army missions both globally and throughout the National Capital Region.

Within a combat zone, in a Direct Support Field Artillery Battalion, selected above eligible branch-qualified officers to serve in a position of heightened responsibility in charge of unit combat readiness, logistics operations, and health & welfare of assigned personnel. This high speed, forward-deployed 25th Infantry Division unit was part of the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2007-2009.

With an active base protection mission that included over 30,000 American and Allied personnel on the largest combined American-Iraqi installation in Iraq (Camp Taji), managed current operations that included early detection and response to incoming enemy indirect and direct fire, Improvised Explosive Devices (IED's), and car bombs. Coordinated the effective removal/destruction of numerous explosives in Iraq – which saved untold numbers of lives – and was just part of the job of performing 12-14 hour shifts each day for over 6 straight months in a highly charged combat environment. Also responsible for daily coordination between internal and external organizations, both civilian and military, to ensure the seamless ebb and flow of base operations.

Medical Officer for the first M777A2 howitzer battalion in the United States Army, assigned to the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division. Responsible for all medical planning and coverage (including Echelon I Health Service Support) for the entire 400+ member unit, with daily exposure to enemy attack while deployed; also accountable for medical equipment valued in excess of $1M. Tracked medical supplies and managed an annual budget, ensuring constant and consistent resupply of equipment and medicines both in garrison and in the theater of operations.
