The creative team for Ralph Lauren's RRL vintage inspired brand is small, specialized and responsible for a multitude of presentation related tasks. Between the 3 of us that are on the ground, we maintain and represent 6 stores between NYC and East Hampton. Our responsibilities include the design and build of all windows displays as well as concept driven interior decoration required with each new clothing group. For RRL this is intensive showroom style presentation, involving framing of artwork, acquisition, fabrication and restoration of props, and installation of large, heavy weight architectural pieces. As part of the interior presentation we are also responsible for all bust forms and mannequins inside of stores. This requires comprehensive knowledge of the fabrication, fabric and styling demands of each clothing group, as well as an excellent shorthand for menswear styling and rigging of garments in general. My role encompasses all of these tasks on a constant basis. Other job requirements specific to my position include: • Custom, site specific fabrication, carpentry, painting and surface finishing of 90% of window sets required for period and narrative specific window displays. My background in traditional painting and color theory is a constant asset in this process. • Photograph and archive all presentation changes in correspondence with our rolling installation schedule. • Re-wire, restore or fabricate lighting fixture and systems from scratch. Adjust, maintain and enhance in-house theatrical lighting systems on a regular basis.• Coordinate and facilitate installation schedule, freelancer assistance, prop delivery etc. between creative team and in store management. Maintain amiable working relationships with dozens of employees and team members in both the retail and corporate environment. • Illustrate and design custom art works, murals, graphics, sculptures or traditional artwork wherever necessary.
