What happens when the music stops? When COVID-19 changed everything, I needed an answer to the music industry shuttering its doors indefinitely. In time, I could no longer wait for my passion to be possible again. So I went and found another: coding.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬What I discovered at Flatiron School's Software Engineering bootcamp were all the things I found in music. I saw the same purity of composition: its complexity made up of the intersection of elegance and intent. I felt the excitement of discovery, the way the industry has to keep up with itself as technology accelerates possibility. And, to my delight, I found the skills I developed after tens of thousands of hours honing my musicianship, and hundreds of shows a year touring around the world translated to an industry that demands diligent work and healthy communication skills. Just as in music, mastery of coding is a lifelong journey. I am continuously looking to build upon my knowledge of React, Redux, Ruby on Rails, Javascript, and SQL. I am currently immersing myself in data structures and algorithms, Material UI design concepts, Next.js, and plain old vanilla CSS. I remember how impossible the guitar felt when I picked it up, so I know that trusting the process of consistency and applied focus can change your life.As a full-time musician, I’ve worked in creative and collaborative spaces, leveraging my expertise in project management, agile learning, as well as coaching and mentoring. Successfully sharing a tour van for months takes interpersonal skill and collaboration.
