Responsible for delivering rigorous mathematics instruction in an engaging environment. The creation and implementation of lesson plans which align with current state standards, in addition to focusing on differentiating instruction and assessments to accommodate various types of learners, is something I took great pride in. I maintained a positive and team-based classroom community with a focus on student success and strong emphasis on classroom management, and I regularly collaborated with teachers, administrators, and academic coaches to enhance classroom instructional techniques and skills. I have served as a mentor teacher for new hires and MCS Extended School Program staff members, in addition to leading a district-wide collaborative math team from 2017-2021. I worked with ESP during the 2018-19 and 2020-21 school years as an after-school tutor for 5th and 6th grade students. In 2016, I participated in Project INSPIRE, a cohort offered by MCS and Middle Tennessee State University, with other district teachers focusing on building conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and increasing content knowledge in K-8 mathematics.I was selected as the 2018-19 John Pittard Elementary Teacher of the Year. In 2020, I was selected as a member of the inaugural class of Extraordinary Educators from Curriculum Associates, one of 31 teachers nationwide. I have presented district level professional development on the topics of Balanced Math in Upper Elementary Grades, Mathematical Discourse in the Elementary Classroom, and Utilizing i-Ready in the Classroom. I was also selected to present at the 2019 Curriculum Associate's Central Tennessee i-Ready User Summit on the topic of Maximizing i-Ready Usage in the Classroom.
