Researched and wrote grants (primarily non-federal) for at-risk species research and conservation, land acquisition and management, park and pollinator garden development, and wetlands conservation. Over $50,000 was awarded from the submitted grant applications.Developed a management plan for safeguarding endangered clasping warea and threatened sand skinks within a developing subdivision in partnership with the Florida Native Plant Society, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, Duke Energy, and other professionals.Wrote Florida Forever Boundary Amendment applications which facilitated state acquisition of 200 acres of rare habitat and watersheds home to 9 at-risk species and that increased connectivity to the Cross Florida Greenway for wide-ranging species.Facilitated the expansion of an existing 42-acre nature preserve on Halfmoon Lake, home to over 100 species of resident and migratory birds, including 24 at-risk species, through stakeholder outreach which raised over $15,000 from the community. The 9-acre expansion will provide a public park for recreational activities, like hiking and birdwatching, and education on bird and wetlands conservation.Aided in the development of a community food and butterfly garden to promote pollinator habitat and education and foster community engagement through food production by collaborating with professionals, such as the Florida Native Plant Society for landscape design.Monitored land use changes to prevent development in priority conservation areas within the Ocala-to-Osceola portion of the Florida Wildlife Corridor and designed educational materials for conservation awareness, such as brochures, posters, presentations, signage, and newsletters.Monitored and surveyed endangered clasping warea and Etoniah rosemary populations and their habitat.Attended board and committee meetings, took minutes, and presented project updates.
