• Assists in the restoration of the Goleta Monarch Butterfly Grove.• Guides volunteers through the process of preparing, planting, and caring for trees in one of the West's most important winter sites for migrating monarch butterflies.

Cheadle Center for Biodiversity and Ecological Restoration• Leads a dip-netting experiment studying the diversity and health of benthic aquatic macroinvertebrate populations throughout vernal pool and slough sites at the North Campus Open Space. Collects aquatic invertebrate and algae samples, and tracks water quality data using a YSI meter. • Preserves and sorts samples via microscope, and identifies around a dozen species of observed invertebrates. Visualizes and analyzes data using RStudio in order to draw conclusions about environmental conditions and communicate this information to the public. Designs and manages lab Slack, trains new lab members, and implements decor elements to foster lab morale.

• Maintained local restoration sites through various methods of invasive species control, including manual removal of weeds and soil solarization. Additional experience in nursery work, seed collection, plant identification, and out-planting.

Coal Oil Point Reserve• Collected and sampled the local insect biodiversity of the reserve, with a focus on Hymenoptera, Coleoptera, and Lepidoptera. Preserved, pinned, and labeled the specimens, after determination of morphotype. Updated and maintained database with specimen field and catalogue numbers, QR codes, and collection event information for future use in research.
